Trivia: During the 1890's there was, in a way, growth for Memphis through incorporation of the towns of Madison Heights, Idlewild, Lenox, and Manila. The town with longest life was Binghampton, which was incorporated in 1895, dropped the "P" from its name in 1907, and continued its own municipal management until 1919. The founder was Squire William H. Bingham, whose name remains on a street. His farm house was on the site now occupied by Blessed Sacrament Church.
